Managing Director, Malcolm Wilkins MIEMA, has extensive experience of working with a diverse range of organisations on a consultancy basis, as well as delivering a variety of training programmes to meet the environmental and quality demands of today’s business.  He is also an experienced assessor, working with several colleges and training organisations across the country.

Malcolm was Senior Training Consultant with the Business Environment Association, designing and delivering training programmes ranging from Environmental Awareness at level one, through to Practical Environmental Management at level four, and during the last ten years, has lead numerous training programmes, for delegates from diverse areas of business and Local Authority.

These programmes, focus on process management, resource management, waste minimisation and environmental management systems and, when requested, include workplace assignments which follow the logical steps of implementing ISO 14001.

He has led a number of Supply-Chain training programmes, for “Blue Chip” organisations, as well as in house programmes of Environmental Management System implementation.

This has added to an already extensive portfolio, the dimension of understanding and communicating the Environmental Awareness that large companies require of their suppliers.

Appointed to the Board of Examiners and Question Writers for both the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and Northern College of Further Education, he is an approved tutor for their Environmental Management Training programmes, delivered at the equivalent of NVQ level 3.

He also has considerable experience in Customer Service, having had overall responsibility for design and implementation of Customer Satisfaction Programmes within multi-franchise motor organisations and motor manufacturers in the UK and overseas.

With a background largely in the motor industry, he holds Diplomas in Adult Education from both City and Guilds and the East Midland Further Education Council.  He is also a Member of the Institute of Environmental Managers and Assessors.

Associate Consultants

Margaret Munro.

Until recently, Margaret was a full-time director of RTS Environmental Ltd, and now works with the Company part-time, as an associate consultant.

Margaret has a background of seventeen years in the chemical manufacturing industry, during which time she was instrumental in the implementation the Quality Standard, BS 5750 (now ISO 9001) in 1986.

She was then involved in the pilot programme with BSI, setting the criteria for the first environmental standard, BS 7750, (since adopted into the ISO 14000 series). At that time, she was Co-ordinator for the company’s certification programme to E.M.A.S. – the European “Eco-Management Audit Scheme”.

Her practical experience in business and industry is therefore ideally suited to Environmental Management Systems training and coaching companies towards implementation and certification to ISO 14001 and E.M.A.S.

She is an approved tutor for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and has delivered the Certificated Course of Environmental Awareness, on numerous occasions since the programme was launched in December 1998.

Margaret is an associate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, a professional body, which supports senior advisors and managers in industry and commerce.

John Calverley Bsc LLb Dea

John is a Biochemist & Agricultural botanist specialising in pesticide consultancy. Whilst operating in this capacity, he became involved in Health & Safety management, dealing with inspections and enforcement notices. 

Holding a Law Degree, he has successfully conducted several H&S Tribunal appeals and specialises in regulatory compliance for both Health and Safety and Environmental disciplines. 

He is an accredited energy assessor, and works as both a consultant and trainer in the field of energy conservation, waste management and environmental management systems. 

Terry Hector

Terry was a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences, De Montford University, where he lectured in Microbiology and Environmental Studies.  He was the General Manager of ERA since its formation, having previously been the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Environmental Audit Research Project.

As General Manager of ERA, his function was to select and co-ordinate teams of expert staff from the University and other organisations for environmental consultancy contracts.  His specialist interest is Environmental Management Systems training, working with other organisations such as BVQI and the BEA in the UK and overseas.

Overseas work includes advising the University of Massachusetts on course structures and the preparation and delivery of environmental management training in Brazil:  links with Brazil date from the 1970’s when he lectured at the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

Dr. Kenneth Westlake

Kenneth qualified as a Microbiologist, later transferring to the field Waste Management.  Within this, he has worked as a University Lecturer, having published more than 40 scientific and waste management publications, in addition to presenting publications at international conferences.

In the role of Environmental Consultant, he has worked in various parts of the world as well as the UK, and has undertaken and managed contracts in landfill development, contaminated land site assessment, waste facility auditing (in the process/manufacturing industry, landfills, incinerators, waste treatment plants and transfer stations), environmental audits (for acquisitions) and waste minimisation within an industrial environment.

His research interests include attenuation, control and monitoring of contaminated land (including landfill), sustainable landfill, bioremediation, biodegradation of wastes, sustainable waste management policy and strategy, waste minimisation and recycling.

Bruce Smith Bsc Msc Cphys MinstP MIOA

Bruce has more than nineteen years experience in acoustic consultancy.  Formerly Head of Noise Research at British Coal, he specialises in Environmental and Planning noise and witness testimony.
